gah.

this whole set sucks. i rented a lens (the canon 24-70L 2.8) and i am just not happy so far. i'll mess with it more tomorrow, but so far? ehhh.... you can see (or maybe not haha) that the focus is not right in a lot of these. and i damn well know i cant mess up that bad all of a sudden. haha

BUT let me say - these pics are simply capturing silly sisters. and i love them no matter what.

  1. I shoot Nikon and rented the 24-70/2.8 and HATED the focus. I wanted to love it, I really did. A friend photog suggested the 15-55/2.8 (with the magnification factor of the non full frame camera, it shoots like the 24-70). I rented it and lurved it. Ultimately I bought it and have shot with it all summer. Hasn't left my camera. Just an idea to see if it's a better fit. Love your photos!

  2. i upped the SS today from 1/160 to 1/250 and eh... maybe better? i dunno. i am a prime girl, but wanted the zoom capabilities for an event this wkend (and my fave lens - the 30mm 1.4 - does not have good "long distance" abilities). im thinking that since the shots i need will be with my camera on a tripod, it will be better. i am hoping, at least.

  3. Lmao, Reese looks SO displeased with Sawyer's head kiss. Like, "That's enough now."

  4. I don't think they look OOF, they just look sort of, I don't know, soft. Kind of dreamy and ethereal. That's the nice thing about renting a lens instead of shelling out, though!

  5. Looks like you were shooting wide-open and focus fell (in the first set) on their knees. I have the same problem with my 24-70 2.8.

  6. yeah we figured out it was because i was not used to the weight. i upped the SS for my sets since then and had MUCH better luck. i had to compensate for my shaky "not used to such a big lens" difference ;) my 30 is so tiny!!
